2010 AWARD WINNERS

Many Congratulations to all!

The Spring and Summer winners received their awards from the Mayor of Brentwood, David Tee,
at a special Jack Petchey Awards Evening held at the club on Friday 10th September 2010.
Spring Winners x 3

Alex Hoeffler: Although this young man could easily have been nominated for his own sporting activities on the field, however it was for his to turn his hand to a ‘paint brush’ at a recent club working parties that led to his nomination. His willingness to give up his own time at weekends in helping to support the club - brought praise from several quarters, as his commitment and effort has proved a role model for his peers.
His award money is to be used towards additional patio chairs/small portable gazebo.

Cameron Southcott: This young man gives his time in supporting the club by helping with many of the unpopular off the field activities. Recognised for his impeccable manners and helpful attitude. A regular visitor to the club with his family, his offers of help relating to any cleaning, tidying matters required inside or outside the club has not gone unnoticed by many of the club committee members.
His award money is to be spent on new clubhouse items – brooms, mops, and dustbins.

Matt Simmons: Has proved to become one of the characters of the club. Continuing on from his exploits in last years Sunday match play side in which he scored many runs, his big hitting style has made him poplar with his team mates and spectators alike. Having already scored a century for the Sunday senior side, he has followed up with some impressing batting performances again this season in our Sat league crickets matches. Has made himself available to support the coaching staff on Friday nights for the younger members when needed.
His award money is to go towards  rain sheet/covers for the Park pitch wicket.

Summer Winners x 3

Ollie Bailey: Proving to be extremely good all-rounder in this season current match play side. He is always willing to put himself out for the team, and provides huge encouragement for all. His performances in the colts Sunday sides last season, earned him selection in to the Saturday seniors sides, where he has proved that he can acquit himself very well at this level.
His award money is to be spent on new portable scorers' table, and a windbreaker.

Matt Jenkins: Matt’s batting and bowling has made great strides this year. He is putting in hard work on his technique and reaping rewards, peaking in a hat-trick for the U13s in the Peter Coe cup game. He is always a very positive team member – encouraging his team and always applying himself fully whatever role he is asked to perform. Matt is always highly focused in training sessions.
His award money is to be spent on new clubhouse recreational equipment.

Jake Kavanagh: Jake has developed and established himself on the field of play as a batsman, and wicket keeper. He has featured well in the Sunday match play sides again, and has been selected for the senior sat teams. Although a competent wicket keeper, he has excelled as a batsmen this season, with his dedication and hard work on the training ground, really improved his performance levels already this season. He is also seen around the club on Friday evening helping the coaching staff when required.
His award money is to be spent on ECB club people training/development courses.

Autumn Winners x 3 (presented at Club Awards Evening 13th November)

Elliot Richter: His award is for his all round contribution to the club cricketing activities. Over the last couple of seasons he has proved a very popular character around the club. He helps supervises the club's colts coaching during the week - advising and helping all age groups. Whilst playing for the club's Saturday 1st X1 he took 13 wickets, and scored over 500 runs, - including a fine 110 not out against Five & Heronians He played for our Sunday/Midweek sides, and was instrumental in helping the club win the Bertie Joel cup, none more so than when scoring an impressive 175 not out in the cup quarter final to give him a total of 274 runs on our route to winning the final.
His award will be used as a contribution towards organising a JP awards evening to recognise our junior winners at the clubhouse.

John Grant:His award is for his attitude and support at the cricket club. John was a regular contributor and supporter for the 4th team squad, helping them to progress to the runners-up spot in the league – and delivering a personal best of 5 – 64 whilst bowling. This season he also made himself available for our inaugural 5th team friendly, and got a chance to prove his abilities also with the bat - scoring a fine half century (not out) for the club.
His award will be used as a contribution towards carpet/flooring for the clubhouse.

Adam Winder: His award is for his development and progress in club cricket. Adam has developed well since getting a place the senior sides at the club. His attitude and application have enabled him to display great bowling prowess in the sides. This season he appeared for the 4th X1 gaining a total of 9 wickets in just two games with a best of 5 -31, which included a hat trick. In the 3rd X1 this year, he played 11 games, and he ended up taking 18 wickets, including a best of 6-55, helping the side gain runners-up spot in the league.
His award will be used as a contribution towards new blinds/curtains for the clubhouse.
