On 22 December 2005, Steve Paulsen made his debut for Queensland in the ING Cup (Australian inter-state one day competition) as the "super-sub". Michael, Ryan and Luke Jarvis were there to witness the event. Paulsen hit 32 from 47 balls to stabilise the Queensland innings after coming in at 113-5 chasing Western Australia's 227. In the end Queensland won a thrilling game by 2 wickets with only 2 balls to spare, Queensland wicket-keeper Hartley hitting 2 sixes in the final over. There is a write up and audio interview on the Queensland Bulls' website about Paulsen's upcoming debut.
Ryan was also lucky enough to be at the Gabba on 6 January 2006 to see Steve Paulsen and Graeme Cunningham take part in the first ever domestic Twenty20 match in Australia between the Queensland Bulls and the Tasmanian Tigers. The game was a complete wash out after a typical Queensland tropical storm dumped 6" water in about 20 minutes. Queensland made 136-7 from their 20 overs with Paulsen (45 off 46 with 4 fours and a six hit off Ritchie Cunningham) and Jimmy Maher (59 off 51, 8 fours) steadying the ship after Queensland had been reduced to 4-31 from 6 overs. After 3.1 overs Tassie were 15-1 in reply when the rain arrived. There is a small write up about Paulsen in a summary of the day's festivities and video highlights of the game. Paulsen is wearing 42 with "Harry" on his back (I don't know if they play with nicknames on their back in England, but they do in Australia for Twenty20) and you can see him hitting "Ritchie" (No 8) for six after about 4 mins 30 secs of the video:
