Scoreboxes, Old and New
On 11th January 2007, gale-force winds wrecked the scorebox.
The first picture below is how the scorebox looked last season (with Andy Hayes).
Spring 2007. Work started on the new scorebox.
Here's how it progressed, from the base being laid, right through to the electronic scoreboard being fitted. In the final photo of the following batch, Michael Wright, official scorer, has taken up residence.
26th May 2007. Official Opening.
Dudley Payne, Deputy Mayor of Brentwood, presented to the club, on behalf of the Jack Petchey Foundation, a cheque for £5,211, being a grant towards the cost of the new scorebox. Mr Payne then declared the scorebox officially open.
Alf West
In the first photo, Alf stands by the new scoreboard. The second photo shows Alf seventy years before, in front of an old Shenfield scoreboard. He is fourth from the left, sitting with his arms crossed.
