The Mayor and Allan Salisbury

10 September 2010
ALLAN SALISBURY - Facilities Manager Shenfield CC, has been granted the Leader's Award.

Allan has given much commitment and service to the club over the years. He has been instrumental in all the renovations and maintenance work required within the clubhouse - making things happen.

These tasks have ranged from a host of self/ general maintenance cleaning tasks, through to full project management; including tendering, overseeing and managing to conclusion any required/commissioned work on behalf of the club.

A spate of unfortunate break-ins has also seen him deal with police matters, subsequent insurance claims, then supporting loss adjusters and their contractors on behalf of the club. He has recently been instrumental in the planning and installation of new security and alarm system facilities for the club.

Previously Allan had campaigned for toughened clubhouse window glass to be installed, for the safety purposes of all our senior watching members, and he totally supervised all the installation work in his own time. He has also been involved in the commissioning and the renewing of much needed electrical work for club, always being on hand to oversee extensions and cabling work to difficult parts of the club and ground.

His current 'live' project is to get patio doors installed within the club - so as to create additional space options for a possible marquee annexe, and thus enable any club events to be better attended. Continuous improvements are indeed always his aim - never seemingly resting, and constantly looking to maximise and improve all the facilities for the members and guests.

During the summer time his workload and effort is obvious to all, however the amount of effort he puts in during the winter is incredible. This ranges from preparing our club meetings and events, organising various volunteer working parties, through to securing all club property. Often seen in the club containers, tidying hunting and storing...painting work etc....the list goes on.

These tasks though are all constantly performed with him utilising his own time, even annual leave when required. This giving of his time may not perhaps always be fully recognised or understood by all members and our users of the club. However, a JP leader's award will really allow the Club to give him a formal 'thank you' on behalf of all the members.

Allan received his award from the Mayor of Brentwood, David Tee, at a special Jack Petchey Awards Evening held at the club on Friday 10th September 2010.
