Congratulations to our 3rd XI for securing promotion to the Premier League.
With one game remaining they need 7 points to guarantee winning the league. A particular mention goes to U14s and U15s - Alfie Griffin who has done a fine job behind the stumps and with the bat and Ollie Todd who has the 2nd best economy rate in the league for any bowler with more than 10 wickets. Yesterday, the U12s continued their run of form this season, making it to the Semi‑Finals of the Brian Taylor Trophy after beating High Roding CC, one of the favourites in the competition.

Sixteen teams (128 U9 players), including three teams from Shenfield took part in an exciting evening of cricket with all the teams playing 3 matches each and spectators were treated to some outstanding bowling, fielding and batting from boys and girls of such a young age.
A big thank you to Jack Pryor, Julian Green, Cam Spicer and Mitch Edwards for umpiring the games and to Tom Ballington and Jacob Bell for stewarding the car park.
Here are some photos of the occasion.

Yesterday's ECB 50+ County Championship match — Essex v Kent at SCC.
Essex were comfortable winners of the Wasim Raja Trophy, beating Kent by 6 wickets with 19.3 overs to spare.
Fayyaz and Arshad bowled tight spells, and Tim Smith took 4-6, to deservedly win the MOM award from sponsors Solution Recruitment.
The meagre total was quickly achieved with Neil Burns scoring a quickfire 44 in 31 balls.
Group winners Essex now move forward to the National knock out stages with a home draw on July 29th, the venue being Billericay or Brentwood CC.
Here is a photo of the Essex squad.

Shenfield CC will be hosting an historic fixture between the MCC and a Shenfield High School Academy team on Sunday July 8th.
The game will commence at 11:30 and finish at approximately 6pm.
SHS is the first non-selective State School to have a fixture with the MCC and hopefully if all goes well it could be an annual event.
The close relationship shared between the club and the school has produced some outstanding cricket players in recent years with many coming through the Colts section and now regularly playing in the club's senior sides.
Please come along and support the fixture – spectators would be much appreciated.
On what promises to be a brilliant day, all Shenfield Colts and their families as well as other members and acquaintances are welcome to come and watch the game, which promises to produce some excellent cricket for everyone to see!!!
The club's bar will be open and a BBQ will be offering food throughout the day.

Here are some lovely photos.
14th June 2018
It has been a sensational week for all three of Shenfield's county stars!
A century for Aaron Beard, a six wicket haul for Jack Plom, both for Essex 2nd XI, and a starring role for Matt Salisbury with both bat and ball in an amazing Durham comeback in the County Championship.
Aaron coming in at no 7 with Essex 50-5 in their first innings against Glamorgan at Billericay scored 103 in 211 balls in a 6th wicket partnership of 176 to give Essex a first innings lead of 159. Earlier in the same game Jack took 6-33 off 13 overs to help reduce Glamorgan to 145 all out. The game continues today (Thursday).
At Chester-le-Street, Durham were all out for 96 in their first innings, but Matt, on Durham County Championship debut, then took 3 useful Derbyshire wickets in their first innings of 205. At 159-7 in their second innings Durham were just 50 ahead and staring defeat in the face but 8th and 9th wicket partnerships of 104 and 99 changed things dramatically. Coming in at number 10 Matt played an innings of Boycott proportions taking 25 runs off 147 deliveries (much of it against the second new ball facing Kolpak South Africans Viljoen and Olivier) whilst his batting partner completed a crucial century. He then followed up with four top wickets to help skittle a demoralised Derby side out for 172 and win the game by 95 runs. Matts match figures finished at 38-5-140-7.
Here's a photo.

At the other end of the country Matt Salisbury featured for Durham CCC against Northants at the Riverside Stadium in Chester-le-Street whilst our former (and hopefully to return!) wicketkeeper-batsman Jack Potticary was in the Northants side.
