World Cup Football this Saturday at SCC
SCC will be opening from 2pm on Saturday to show the first game, Morocco v Portugal (ko 3pm).
We will then stay open from then for the big game, England v France (ko 7pm.)
No tickets for this - it will be first come, first served with limited seating.
Look forward to seeing you Saturday.

Food bank collection at SCC- Saturday 26th November from 10am-12pm
We will be doing another collection for our local food bank, the Daily Bread in Hutton, on Saturday 26th November. Please bring your donations down from 10am-12pm and we will collect them in the car park.
They welcome any tins, packets, dried goods etc. Anything Christmas related (chocolate selection packs etc) would also be welcome to distribute to local families. Anyone coming to the AGM this Sunday can bring their donations then if they prefer. Thanks for your support.

AGM this Sunday and World Cup Predictions Game
It is the SCC AGM this Sunday 20th November - 11am at SCC. All members, parents and interested parties are welcome to attend.

We have very few takers yet for the World Cup Score predictions game so please do get involved to have a bit of fun and help to raise funds for the club- see details below as to how to join in.
It is World Cup time soon and we are trying to raise funds for the Cricket Club with another score prediction game. This is all done online, and you can check it as often as you like, just predict a winner, then predict scores for each game. The matches after the group stages can be predicted later, all the rules and guides are on the website.

Football World Cup — England Group Games At SCC
With the world cup just around the corner please see below for our plans to show England's three group games.
With it being a winter World Cup, it does mean we are limited with the amount of people we can fit in. At the same time, because of this we also need to make sure that people who say they are coming to watch do actually come. So, we will be doing a pre booked guestlist with money to be paid ahead of each match day.
SPACES AVAILABLE
- 60 ADULTS - £5 first drink free
- 20 KIDS (Under 16s) - free
If you would like to reserve your space, you will need to make payment in cash at SCC on Mondays 5pm - 11pm, or Saturdays 3pm - 6pm (or arrange with Roachy when booking.)

John Cleverley
We were very sorry to hear, just recently, that John died on 15th April.
John was a long-standing and very active member of Shenfield CC.
Sadly, he hadn’t been well for quite some years.
Our thoughts go out to his wife, Linda, and her family.

SCC Events
Although the season has finished, we still have some fantastic events booked in already at the club. They are always great nights and helps the club to bring in much needed revenue throughout the off season.
SATURDAY 22ND OCTOBER - Shenfield Soul Saturday, 6pm - close. Guest DJs bringing the Caister vibe to Shenfield!! Tickets £10 in advance, 75 tickets available, drinks deals between 6pm - 8pm.
FRIDAY 4TH NOVEMBER - New Zealand Wine Tasting -7pm. Tables of 6, six great wines from NZ with a grazing box on your table, always a great night! Just 4 tables left. £30 a head.
SATURDAY 12TH NOVEMBER - Forever Mac, 7pm - close. The fantastic Fleetwood Mac Tribute act are back at SCC. Tickets £10 in advance, 75 tickets available. The last time these were with us it was one of the best nights the club has seen!
FRIDAY 2ND DECEMBER - Christmas Wine Tasting 7pm. Tables of 6, six great wines that will be perfect for your Christmas festivities, grazing box on your table. £35 a head. 7 Tables available.

Sam Bear Wins Jack Petchey Award
Sam has always been a great cricketer and has long been recognised as such within the Essex county setup.
This summer he has secured his place in the first team at only 15 years old and attended the prestigious Banbury festival, which is made up of the strongest players in the country in his age group.
He has become integral within the colts coaching set up....and is a lovely lad who is a credit to the club. - 2nd September 2022

SCC- Request for auction prizes for the Dinner and Dance fundraiser.
The annual Dinner and Dance is on Saturday 17th September and the big fundraiser from the night is the auction. We are looking for any members who might be willing to donate a prize, item or experience for us to auction off, in order to raise funds for SCC.
Last year's prizes included a weekend away in a holiday house and a pool party. If anyone has anything they would kindly like to donate please email hannahjanekirby@yahoo.com and thankyou for your help with our fundraising.

Trevor Bailey U16 Matchplay Final- 18th September
For the second consecutive year - and only the third time in the club's history- Shenfield Cricket Club have made it to the final of the 2022 U16 Matchplay competition. It will be held on Sunday 18th September at Brentwood CC starting from 12pm.
Facing a strong Maldon CC XI on Sunday in the semi final, Shenfield won the toss and put Maldon into bat. Some excellent bowling kept Maldon to 183 all out. In reply, Shenfield went about the run chase with confidence, 53 off 40 balls from Evan Ackerman and an unbeaten 40 from Max Toolan helped the team to secure the win by 5 wickets.
Shenfield head to the final to face another strong opponent, Harlow CC, who were the victors against Billericay CC in the other semi-final. The final this year will be played at Brentwood CC on Sunday 18th September, commencing at 12 Noon.
All members and supporters of SCC are welcome to come along and cheer on the team, in what promises to be a great game of cricket. - 24th August 2022

Shenfield Cricket Club — Coach Development Program 2022 – 2023
Message from Colts Chairman- Matt Pryor.
As we approach the end of another fantastic season at Shenfield Cricket Club, planning for the 2023 season begins. This year saw a record number of junior players join our ranks, which put extra pressure on our coaching provisions.
Shenfield CC, as with many other clubs across the country, are looking to increase the number of coaches available to assist in developing the next generation of players.
Essex CC have recently launched a new wave of Coach Development training, which are open to anyone interested in helping the club with coaching. Shenfield CC will reimburse the cost of any of the programs to those who attend.

Without coaching staff, the club may have limit the number of junior players able to attend coaching sessions in 2023, so I would encourage anyone who is interested in inspiring our next generation of cricketers to follow the link below and book your place.
Essex Cricket in the Community - Coach Development Programme 2022/2023
We are pleased to announce dates for the Essex Cricket in the Community Coach Development Programme covering the period of October 2022 through to July 2023.
We will be running the following ECB Coach Education Courses and they will be available to book from Monday 1st August 2022 from 12pm
• ECB Support Coach Course
The Support Coach program has been designed for newcomers to coaching, providing the knowledge, skills and confidence to support qualified coaches.
• ECB Foundation 1 Course
This programme has been designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to coach cricket sessions that are purposeful, active, safe and enjoyable.
• ECB Core Coach Course
This programme has been designed to give learners the knowledge, skills and confidence to lead player-centred coaching sessions.

Freddie Wren
Jack Petchey Achievement Award winner
Freddie assists in the Colts coaching on a Friday evening. He is a stalwart of what is now our U16 squad for many years, as well as making consistent appearances in the senior squads.
Coupled with his never-ending positive attitude, he is a well-regarded and popular member of the club.
The £300 from Freddie's award will be put towards repairs for the nets. - 19th August 2022

Tom Arnold
Jack Petchey Achievement Award winner
Jack Petchey Achievement Award winner Last year Tom made an ambitious change from being a wrist spinner to a quick left arm seam bowler. With hard work he progressed quickly, working his way up to Shenfield's second eleven and he finished the 2021 season with 38 wickets, including a match winning 5 for 19.
Tom has rightly been recognized in 2022 by the Essex county setup and has performed well for the Essex Academy side in 20/20 cricket. Tom is also a capable batsman, scoring 350 runs for Shenfield in 2021 and continuing to work hard on his batting. Tom has assisted with the Colts coaching at Shenfield and contributes to the club spirit with his effort in training and great demeanour.
The £300 from Tom's award will be put towards repairs for the nets.

Shenfield Colt selected for prestigious Banbury Festival
Following four successful trials, Shenfield's Sam Bear has been selected to take part in the Banbury festival this year.
Played at Loughborough University between the 30th July and the 5th August, The Bunbury Festival, formally known as the ECB David English Bunbury Festival, is an annual cricket tournament for the best under-15 boys players in England.
First held in 1987, the ECB took over the running of the tournament in 2018, becoming the first stage in the ECB's Player Pathway to the England Cricket Team. The format will see 56 players divided into four squads and compete in both 50 over and T20 competitions.
As of 2018, 91 of the cricketers who have played at the tournament have gone on to play for England, including national team captains Michael Vaughan, Andrew Flintoff and Joe Root, while 10 of the 11 England players in the 2019 Cricket World Cup final played at the event.
Sam's selection for this prestigious event is a great achievement and it is with much pride that all at Shenfield Cricket Club wish him the very best of luck! - 22nd June 2022

We are sad to report that Peter Robins, former SCC player, has passed away. His brother, Phil, sent the message below.
I’m sad to let you know that my younger brother Peter passed away in Hobart, Tasmania last night. Peter was a Shenfield all-rounder from 1960 until 1970 when he joined us in Australia. He was a deadly in-swing bowler and a very good bat. He also captained the 1st XI. He captained Brentwood School 1st XI with David Acfield as his vice-captain. He played for Pembroke College, Cambridge University and Incogniti. When he came here he played District Cricket for Flinders University in Adelaide and the Australian National University in Canberra.

SCC Dinner and Dance- Saturday 17th September
Following the success of last year's event, we are again holding an SCC Dinner and Dance - this year it will be held at Mount Avenue Banqueting Suite, Shenfield on Saturday 17th September.
Tickets are £40 per head and include a three course meal with coffee/ mints and a disco.

Colts Membership - Details here - I have pleasure in attaching the 2022 Colts Membership form for you to complete and e mail back to us.
The payment details are also on the form. Please avoid the temptation to ask us if the money has arrived, assume that if it’s left your account, it’s arrived in ours. If you could make separate payments for each sibling it’d be appreciated, it makes reconciliation easier. If you are signing up more than one child, we will issue sibling vouchers again this year for you to spend at the club bar.
Please leave your address and personal details blank unless they have changed, it saves us a lot of effort NOT having to check them!
Many of you will be tempted to e mail back, asking me (or Matt) which nights coaching will be, and I can confirm we are intending to replicate the same structure as last year. This might change (dependent on the number of members and coaches) and anyone inconvenienced by an unexpected change of night will be entitled to a refund, so don’t hold back in that regard.
Whilst I have your attention, can I implore as many of you to join our“100” CLUB as possible?
